How to Draw an Easter Bunny?

Dutch illustrator and animator Stefan de Groot explains how to draw a cute Easter bunny in this video tutorial of Stayf Draws.
By drawing cartoon like characters you always start sketching the basic shapes. The head of the bunny is a circle. Always draw the head like a globe with two guidelines. You can use these guidelines as reference to draw his snout and eyes. His ears are a bit like long balloons. His left ear is standing up and to break down the shapes I sketch in his right ear a little bend. This will make the drawing more dynamic.  His body has a pear shape. I draw a circle on the bottom of the pear, that will be his hips. The snout of the bunny is a circle as well, draw it on the guideline. The bunny is looking a little bit to the right, so you have to move his snout to the right as well. We first draw in the rough shapes of the character and after that you can add the details like his eyes, mouth, eyebrows. It this tutorial we are going to concentrate on the colors. I have inked the sketch and made it into a Coloring Page.
You can download the Coloring Page so if you just want to color you can download it here:

I have printed out the Coloring Page with the inked version. I first color in the entire coloring page with flat colors with coloring pencils. Don’t press to hard on your pencils, otherwise you can’t mix your colors.

You can use the same colors to color the shades. But sometimes it is better to use a darker color to get a better effect.

When I am finished coloring in the flat colors I am going to shade the drawing.  When you have shades you first need to find the light source.  The light comes from the top right. So everything to the right is lighter and everything to the left is darker. You can use the same colors to color the shades. But sometimes it is better to use a darker color to get a better effect. First draw the shades by pressing hard on your pencil. Then try to make a subtle gradient by pressing softer.
